This is Red River.
In 1971, Bill Humphreys founded Greater Wise, Inc., forerunner of
the Red River Coal Company. His vision and hard work laid
the foundation for Red River's growth into one of the largest
family-owned and operated coal producers in the United
States. Over the years, Red River has grown from a company
with a handful of employees into a company of substantial size
with impressive services and facilities. In this age of
large corporations and billion dollar takeovers, Red River has
remained a family business with no outside investors.
Because of high-quality reserves and competitive pricing, Red
River has enjoyed tremendous success. Red River serves the
utility and industrial domestic markets, as well as the steam and
metallurgical export markets. Current sales exceed 2.5
